Status of Reset 2: The Disciple Making Tour

The second Reset 2 Tour: The Disciple Making Tour is done and in the books; but oh, what a tour we had!  The first tour had 239 attendees in 10 stops. Following that tour, we asked one question: What largely exponential and irreversible changes have taken place in the North American Church community that are both uncertain and important to finishing the task of world evangelism?  

The #1 answer?  We are not effectively making disciples.  

The second tour drew in 450 attendees in 9 cities.  We shared that maybe we need to reexamine how we are making disciples. So we introduced the idea that Jesus modeled for us how to make disciples, who would in turn make more disciples.  Dann Spader, of Global Youth Initiative, shared with us what he has been teaching at the Southeast Christian Church (and for 35 years), that:

  • Jesus gave us an example of how to make disciples, the way he did it.
  • Jesus lived his life with an intention to create a movement of disciple making.

What are the NEXT STEPS?  

At this point, we are spreading our wings a little bit.  Dann has been amazing to work with on the last two Reset tours, but the response we have received and the direction we need to go is much bigger than Dann can give on his own.  We plan to continue sharing the 4 Chair seminar, but we need to move forward on implementing the ideas into life application. So, here are the next steps:

In 2017

Our plans are to have a tour that will share both the 4 Chair and the Metamorphosis material in the spring. We also want to repeat the same two workshops & pre-con sessions at ICOM in Peoria that are being given this year in Lexington.

  • Monday, May 1st – First Christian Church, Council Bluffs, IA – 8:30am – 4:30pm

2017 4 Chair Discipling Seminar Dates & Locations:

  • Tuesday, April 25th – Worthington Christian Church, Columbus, OH – 10:00am – 2:00pm
  • Wednesday, April 26th -Plainfield Christian Church, Indianapolis, IN – 10:00am – 2:00pm
  • Monday, May 1st – First Christian Church, Council Bluffs, IA – 10:00am – 2:00pm

Cost: $60

We have no sponsor to underwrite the expenses for this tour as we have had in the past. Price includes materials, lunch, & funds for group traveling.

In 2018

Our plans are to hold our first event that will be for staff, elders and ministry leaders to come and learn about how other Christian Churches are implementing this new philosophy into the fabric of their churches.  This will begin in the spring of 2018. With this being our first time branching out into this kind of plan, we still have many ideas in the works! We will have more details to come on this later!
