It is easy to think that the situation in South Sudan is hopeless.  There have been so many years of war, strife and broken promises.  What can ever change?

I urge you to listen to the heart of our Sudanese Brother in the video.  He is asking for us to pray for the only true and lasting hope for South Sudan.

In recent days, the fragile peace has been fractured by more rampaging soldiers, raping and killing innocent people.   More ethnic massacres are looming unless there is dramatic change.

“The war today is very much driven by past conflicts, and unresolved issues with past conflicts,” says David Deng, of the South Sudan Law Society in a BBC news article.

May this be the season where the followers of Jesus in South Sudan lead the way in letting Jesus’ vision in being his disciple supersede their tribes…their politics …and even their past.

The BBC article goes on to say, “In the basketball courts, schools, markets and  – yes – military camps of South Sudan, people are desperate for real peace.”

May we join in praying with our Sudanese Brother, for many disciples of Jesus to be raised up who will value everyone as being made in the image of God, even those from other tribes and political parties.  May Christians thrive in forgiving others by the power of the Holy Spirit; so real peace can prevail in greater and greater ways throughout their country.
